Never Deny Your Roots!

Hi dudes,

My name is Eliel Néquiz Díaz, I live in Toluca but I was born in Nezahualcoyotl, I'm 20 years old and nowadays I'm living with my mom and my sister; My brother and my father live in Temoaya, but it doesn't matter, I'm going to write about how I grew up (in musical terms), well, I think that I have to begin saying that when I was a child I used to be much time with my cousins an they showed me some bands which in these days I'm still listening to,one of the most important bands that I can mention is "Molotov", I remember that the first time that I listened to "Molotov" I was very surprised because I'd never listened to a band that say many bad words, but I just knew that I liked this kind of music...

Haha, something funny that I remember is when I was like 6 years old and I went with my family to Acapulco and we saw Molotov playing on the beach, it was very funny because my parents felt out of sorts.

A few years after, I entered Secondary School and I started to define my musical tastes, I started to listening some Mexican Pop-Punk bands like "Taller Para Niños", "Panda", "Jugo", "Allison", etc. But also many US bands like "Blink-182" "Green Day" "Mest" "Sum 41", etc.

When I was in 3rd grade I found a job in "Chedraui" and there I met some friends who had the same musical tastes, that was so cool! but the most important thing that happened when I worked in Chedraui was a Music Store which was there, once I went to buy some CD's and suddenly one album attracted my attention, it was the first Korn's Album, I didn't know why but I just knew that I had to buy it, the album cover was so rad!

At night, when I arrived to my house I listened to my album and I had an "eargasm", that album was a big shot!, and more one song called "Daddy", I felt like if I was watching a horror movie (remember that I love horror movies)

Before that I began to listen more music like that and I discovered that many people called it "Nü-metal" or "Rap-Core", I immediately looked more Nü-metal bands and I found bands like "Rage Against The Machine","Resorte", "Limp Bizkit", "Deftones", etc. I just knew that I had found my new favorite genre of music!

When I entered High School, I got very interested in a genre of music called "Ska", I had already heard about it and I liked bands like "Panteón Rococó", "Salón Victoria", Ska-P", etc. But I didn't know anything about "Old Ska Punk" and "Old Punk Rock"; I had a friend at school who also liked Punk-Rock as me, and he showed me many bands of "Real Ska-Punk" and "Real Punk-Rock" like "Less Than Jake", "Operation Ivy", "Rancid", "Reel Big Fish", etc.

I really liked this kind of music and what it was about, I started buying their CD's through Internet and with some friends in "El Chopo" because here in México didn't sell their CD's

Nowadays I listen to more genres of music like Jazz, Rockabilly, Crack Rock Steady, etc. But I also keep listening to all these musical genres because they were my musical roots and people shouldn't deny their roots!
